Wow it's been a while since I checked in and said "hi" Lots of stuff has been going on here, and it seems like I never have enough time in a day :) Been doing lots of scrapping, altering, and having fun with the buisness stuff, and also have become a Sunday school teacher, church secretary, and church soundman in the last few months. Over the next few days I'll post pics of all of the fun stuff I've been doing.

Hi everyone! it has been one busy month here at Kitty's Creations! Besides being sick last couple of weeks I've been working like crazy on a ton of cards, altered letters, frames, framed LOs and other goodies, and have been loving it!!! I wish I would of done this years ago instead of it being just a dream. While doing what I love I'm able to make a bit of a living (not much of one yet, but have had a few sales) Here are just a few of the cards I did this month, and this isn't even close to all of them, nor does it include all of the other projects. LOL like I said I've been one busy Kitty!!!

Introducing Kitty's Creations

This altered word says exactly what I now have for the future. I've finally gotten off the fence and started my own business. I will be doing altered letters (including custom), cards, and shadow box LOs to start out with. My first craft show will be a small one, but it is in just 2 weeks, so needless to say I've been really busy for the last few weeks. Here are just a couple of the simpler Christmas cards going to be shown at the show, I'm also doing several other themes with in the 115 cards I hope to have done by then. Lots of new stuff

This is my fave pic of the girls for Halloween. The pic was taken at a local bank were we lived for a costume contest, and they won by a unanimous vote :) I also submitted it a few years ago for a contest our local radio was having for Halloween costume pics, and they won again. I've been wanting to scrap the pic for a long time, but kept putting it off for one reason or another until I came across a color challenge on sb.com that I just couldn't pass up.

This card was a pain in the butt, but I had fun doing it! Everything on here is stamped, embossed or both. I made it for a friend of mine who's fave color is pink and she collect penguins.

My hubby's b-day was this past week, and I created this LO for him from the girls. I used a scrap whispers challenge on Pages in time for the design.

This is Ashlynn at a year old, the time sure does go by fast!

I used Alcohol ink on the title, butterflies, and acrylic frame. The journal spot is a rub on, the numbers are by BG. Used a Martha Stewart punch for the polka dot pp, and my cuttlebug with swiss dot embossing folder for the pp behind the torn pp.

All of the flowers besides the 3 large ones (dollar tree) are by Prima, as is the pink swirl bling. The flower centers are Jenni B pink grapefruit. The lace was gotten at Jo Ann's.

Liberty

This is for the NY album I'm doing. Ashlynn's choir group got to sing at the Statue of Liberty, which was a totally awesome experience.

Hidden behind the Statue of liberty pic is facts about her, and 2 pics of her blueprints

The title was actually gotten off of a water bottle (think pure life bottle repackaged) I used my craft knife to cut it out to use on here. I used my cuttle bug a lot on this LO, each of the stars has a different texture as does the red cs, and blue cs. I used a signo pen around the edges.

Journaling from both Ashlynn and I is behind the group pic. Unfortunately I didn't get a real good group pic here, and half of the choir is cut off to be able to get the whole statue, how ever Ashlynn is in the photo :)

Here is my week 2 card for the pages in time Christmas card challenge (I made 11 of them). This week it's all about the bling. I used a stamp resist technique with heat embossing, lots of stickles to decorate, & for the card base I used my cuttle bug.

Never Forget

This is my tribute to the tragedy of 9/11. I took the two large photos and the one of all of the letters on the fence on my recent trip to NY with Ashlynn. The rest are images that I vividly remember seeing on that awful day, and during the aftermath, including the seal at the bottom that I used as a border. This Lo was really hard for me to do, even though I didn't personally lose anyone in the attacks, my heart still goes out to all of the families who did, and to the families of the soldiers lost during this "War on Terror." The journaling is my diary entry from 9/11/01. It reads:
Crisis always occurs at the cause of change. 9/11/2001
Dear Diary,
Today is the day after my 22nd birthday and this morning I woke up to news of war here in the U.S. at 8:48 and 9:04 the Twin Towers World Trade Center was attacked. Two planes hijacked from our airports, full of innocent people, were flown into the center. The place that has been hit before by terrorist attacks and stood, are now in rubble. The pentagon was also attacked and people killed the same way;a plan full of our people with monsters aboard flew into the West Wing. Right now the world is in shock, not since Pearl Harbor has something like this happened and this time it is far worse with more people killed. Our nation is now at war, with who exactly we don't know yet. Here in Texas things are going nuts. They closed down all of Houston expecting it to be hit. All of the gas stations there are closed because of the oil refineries in the ship channel, if it gets hit Houston, Galveston and all of the surrounding areas are gone, along with my best friend and Toby's family. I pray to God that it doesn't happen. Here in Austin they shut down the capitol and closed the local schools. There is a lot of fear here. The gas stations are full, with lines of cars trying to get fuel. In Dallas the price of fuel has jumped up to 5 dollars a gallon! People are now prepared to have more attacks, we know it has only just began. Ashlynn is now 4 years old and she asked Toby and I if the "bad people" were coming here to hurt us, what can you say to that? Luckily Brittany is only 2 years old and doesn't know what is happening. We told Ashlynn that all she could do is pray that the bad people find Jesus before hurting anyone else. Unfortunately that most likely won't happen. What kind of world are my children growing up in? Are their lives going to be full of fear and hate from now on? I pray not, but we just don't know. Tomorrow is a new day, hopefully it will be a better one. The only quote that stuck in my mind today was made by President George W. Bush; "We will not diffrenciate between the terrorist attackers, from those who harbor them. We will retaliate" I now have one question though, when will it all end?

*Foot note- this journal entry was made before I found out about the brave people who crashed in the Pennsylvania field, sacrificing themselves to keep the monsters from hurting anyone else.

30 years

Thank you too all of you wonderful people who wished me a happy b-day on the 10th on the various sites I'm on.

It was a great b-day, even if I was a bit freaked about turning 30. My dd's really surprised me, normally they forget to even tell me happy b-day, but this year they made me breakfast in bed, and got up early to make this banner and pics for the kitchen wall (I can't wait to paint that room!!) My hubby was also a sweetie and got me a camera that I've been drooling over for months :) LOL only bad part of the day was getting food poisoning from a local Chinese restaurant that we tried for the first and last time. Hey at least this b-day will be memorable!!

here is another quick card using an awesome queen Kat stamp. The pp is from Crate Paper-Kaitlin collection, and the pink mats are cardboard that has been glimmer misted.

* here is a tip for you glimmer mist users: Using some repositionable adhesive tape what you're wanting to glimmer mist to the inside of your shower (somewhere reached by the water) that way the mess is easily washed away and doesn't get all over everything :)

tri fold shutter b-day card w/ tutorial

Ashlynn's 13th B-day is coming up soon and I wanted to do something special for her card. This is the first Tri Shutter card that I've made, and I love how it turned out! Everything on this card is stamped, it all started out as white card stock. I absolutely love the adorable Queen Kat monster and B-day stamps, along with the cute cupcakes, present, numbers and hat by studio G. I used the resist ink technique with versa mark ink, and clear embossing powder for all of the images, except the monster, I used water colors on him after embossing. All of the blue was done with the big and juicy waterfall pad, and a brayer.

for this card you start with a 12″ long piece of card stock that is 5 1/2″ tall. This size will fit into a standard invitation size envelope when all folded.Score at 2″, 4″, 8″ and 10″

You then turn the card stock and measure 1 1/2″ in from the long side. Use your craft knife and make a slit starting at the 2″ score and bring it down to the 10″ score mark. Make sure to do this on BOTH long sides.

When it is slit it will fold like this:

When adding your pp make sure to leave a little space around each piece to allow it to fold correctly.

Well as you know we recently moved from a 3rd floor apt to a house with a big back yard, and I think the one of us who has enjoyed having all of this room the most is Jack. He is absolutly loving the freedom of not being on a leash and being able to run and play.

Card fun

I have an ongoing card challenge going on at Pages in Time to get all of those Christmas cards finished. Come join us, the challenge runs from now until the end of Oct.

As I was looking through my card box I noticed I hadn't made any get well cards to have on hand, so whipped this one up with scraps from my pp stash.

This card was made for the awesome Wet and Wild Crop that we had at Pages in Time. The crop was a lot of fun, and thanks to those of you who came and played along. Also thanks to Melissa and Luci for all of their hard work hosting the crop.

BTW please let me know if you know the maker of the stamp, I received the image in a swap, and have no clue where to get this adorable mouse.

Aug Pages in Time DT submission. This is me & 3 of my siblings (Tonya, Bubba,& Todd) . We had lived spread out all over the country since I was 6 years old. Grandpa Taylor's funeral was the first time that we had all been at the same place at once.

The butterfly was found in the jewelry making section of Joann's and I used fishing line to do the beaded body. The title is a Tim Holtz acrylic with DCWV pp and and SEI rub on attached to the backside with mod podge. The large flower and the background are the great Anna Griffin pps that Karen sent from the Pages in Time store. I used a gold paint pen to frame the pic.
I pleated the ribbon and combined the rosette ribbon with burgundy ribbon. The journaling is on pop dots.

Here is my July submission for the Pages in Time DT (we got the kits a little late, lol) Karen sent me the awesome Anna Griffin papers, the fancy pants glitter cut, the clip for the hidden journaling, and also the tag I journaled on.

This was my version of the wire butterflies that are all the rage right now. Took a few mins to make but cost only about 50 cents in supplies LOL

I trimmed the edge of the glitter cut with the yellow AG pp then added the gems to the flowers for a little extra pop.

Britt's B-day was a big success, she loved finding out about going to Wicked, and getting Race to Witch Mountain, which she has been wanting since it came out in theater. It wasn't the big party we normally would of tried to do since it's a mile stone b-day but I think it turned out just as good. :)

Well we are officially moved (YEA!!!) Still unpacking everything, which seems to take forever but the kids are loving all of the extra room to play, which they haven't been able to do in the third floor apt before now. Jack is also enjoying all of the room to run and the girls take him out all of the time to play fetch or just have fun.

This is my new scraproom!!! LOL my desk wouldn't fit through the door so going to have to come up with some other solution, but I love all of that natural light! I can't wait to get it all finished and start creating again :)

Well the movers come on Monday (the weekend was full) and we are still busy packing away. I'm so grateful that my sister is here to help, otherwise I defiantly wouldn't be done in time!
Here is a quick LO of this years 4th of July. I wanted to play with my scrapping goodies a little before they were all packed.

Brittany turns 10 on Tue! I can't believe my sweet baby girl is going to be a pre-teen :( Thankfully she already had her party, since I knew we would be moving about now, just didn't realise it would be the day before her b-day though. Her major present is going to be to go see Wicked later in the month! She wanted to see it soooooo bad when Ashlynn and I were in NY, and it will be in TX most of Aug :)

Lots of changes

Things are a bit chaotic right now here at home, we are moving next weekend about 3 hrs away from where we are now and are in the middle of a packing flurry! The house is almost all packed, including my scrap room :( and my sis is staying with me this week to help since Toby won't be home till after the move is complete (lucky him). LOL there is NO room to walk or anything and the dog is going nuts not knowing what to think! We are all pretty excited, we've lived in this area since Ashlynn was a year old, so this is a major change for us, but I think it will be a good one! The schools that the girls will be going to is TINY (elem/ middle is one school) so they will have to adjust to that one and we will be living out in the country after being in the city all of mine and the girl's lives (Toby grew up in the country) so that will be a new adventure for us as well. My fave part of the move though has got to be that we are getting a bigger house, so I'm going to have my own scrap room!!! YEA!!!!! No more taking up the dining room with scrapping goodies :) After packing some today I may sit down and see if I can complete one last challenge LO for this month, just with the supplies I have on hand (which isn't much) LOL talk about a challenge!!!

Well Ashlynn and I are back from NY after 4 awesome days and we had a blast!!! Her school's choir sang at the Statue of Liberty and St. John the Devinne Cathedral. We saw some amazing sites that being the TX gal that I am I figured on never seeing, even though I've always wanted to. My fave part of the trip besides seeing all of the sites had to be going to see Wicked!! I highly recommend going to see it if you ever get the chance, LOL you'll never watch the Wizard of Oz the same way again!! I took over 500 pics so you'll be seeing all of our adventures scraped some time in the hopefully near future . Ta ta for now :)

Hope everyone had an awesome 4th!! I took the girls to my Mom's for the holiday and they live next to a huge lake that had an awesome fireworks display (at least it was small town awesome LOL) One tradition the girls and I do each 4th is wear the same t-shirts this year it was Ashlynn's turn to pick, big surprise she had us in red, white, and blue peace signs. One thing I like to remember during this time of year, and especially during the current world turmoil is our freedom don't come free, there are people who put their lives on the line for us everyday, and even if we don't agree that where they are or what they are trying to accomplish is right, just remember they deserve respect simply for keeping us free.

Girls just want to have SUN

Have you ever played telephone? One person whispers into some one's ear and it gets passed around till everyone has heard it, but it never ends up being the same as that first person's message. This LO was for a "whisper" challenge. The person before me wrote out directions to how she did her LO and I had to figure out how to do mine from those directions. Does mine look anything like the one before it? Nope, barley at all, but I had a ton of fun doing it! Do I think the title is corny, you betcha, but thought it went perfect with this pic. The pic is from 03 when my munchkins still liked each other and didn't fight like cats and dogs. All of the pps are DCWV Summer stack (don't remember which one) and I used packaging for the transparent strips, ran them through the cuttlebug and painted them. The flower is from Heidi swapp, and is also painted.

This is my dd Brittany's school photo last year. I had her write down some of the things she wanted to remember about the year, the pencil is the actual one she used :) I used red tape to attach it. All papers are from the Making memories School days stack, the letters are from Basic Grey.

I did this LO for a round robin challenge. I don't normally do 2 page LOs, but I had fun with this one! All of the paper on here besides cars and title started out as white card stock. I doodled all of the checkered boards and painted the red background lightly to show movement. BTW if ya can't tell my hubby won the race :)

The flags are bent so they look as though they are waving, the poles are puffy paint. The title was cut with my silhouette (as were the cars) and had candy cane stickles on it. The cars are on pop dots and the white "smoke" is puffy paint. The car line doodles go across to the next page.

The title is puffy letters by SEI and the numbers have the candy cane stickles in the recessed areas.

My hubby is an OTR truck driver and every summer I spend at least a week on the truck with just the two of us. So far this was our most memorable trip, and my fave to date. I used part of a MM road sign and K&co life's journey for the background. The thing that helped me the most when doing this how ever was my freeze frame by Magic Mesh. Normally I hate the thing since I work with lots of layers, but it came in really handy for the photo collage, which had been driving me a bit batty moving around when I was trying to straighten it LOL.

Slumber party

My dd Brittany had a slumber party this weekend for her b-day. Her b-day isn't actually till Aug, but we are moving 4 days before it out of the area and so decided to hold an early party with her school pals. Instead of a goodie bag filled with candy and junk that will be mostly thrown away I decided to have the girls do altered flip flops. It was soooo much fun!! They had a blast and the shoes turned out adorable!! I would highly recommed doing some of these, lol I've already picked up the stuff to do me some to wear to the pool :)

Here is a fun LO of my dd Ashlynn. I didn't care too much for the pic, but I absolutely loved the shirt which she has now out grown. I used a sparkling embossing powder on the chip board letters. For the buttons I glued them down, used my piercer to poke holes then played connect the dots with the embroidery thread.

The teal cs is the kind with the colored core, so I distressed it like crazy to show off the core color. I used glossy accents on various dots, and added some red stitched lines on the top on bottom, and doodled around the heart to give a bit of detail.

This is Ashlynn when she was about 4 1/2. I did this LO for a Chinese whispers challenge were the person before you gives instruction on how to do the LOs with out showing any pics. LOL mine didn't turn out anything like what the one before mine, even though I followed the instructions. It was fun when they were all revealed how different each one was.

This is my dd Ashlynn at Zilker park. The title discribes her to a T, LOL. She looks so grown up in this pic, but I still remind her that she is my baby (I also said no more pics with that bathing suit top on LOL)

for the pic there are 3 layers, a transparency that I covered in achool ink, the pic, and a printed transparency. This is the first time I've made the penwheel flowers that Ann @ pages in time demonstrated.

I stamped around the edge of of the red pp, and used rubon vines to accent the flowers. The bling is from the sewing section of wal-mart.

Bambina

This is my daughter Brittany when she was 2. I've always called her Bambina which is Italian for baby girl. The journaling says:
When I imagine the life you will live,
I think of the pleasure your presence will give.
I see the joy your smile will light
and the wonders you'll weave when your dreams take flight.
I feel the hope that will grow with your grace and the difference
you'll make to each heart you embrace.
I imagine your life as I know it will be;
for, my daughter, you've given all this to me.

I used staples and self adhisive pearls for the bodies of the butterflies, and used a damask stamp set for the background paper

I used a white signo pen, and a silver pen to do trails from the butterflies. Everything is heavly distressed with tim holtz tea dye ink

Happy Birthday to you waterfall card

I'm loving making these waterfall cards! To give it a little added punch I embossed the 2 in Sq with my cuttlebug. The cupcakes are heat embossed in silver, then colored in using watercolor pencils. I also used the watercolors along the edges. Then stamped the words with silver, and went over them with a sparkle pen to make them show a bit more.

the stamped saying is kind of hard to read at this angle, it says "It only happens once a year......so celebrate"

Altered Brads

Custom colored brads!1. Start with any color of brads. I used gold2. Holding onto the prongs of the brad with long tweezers, heat with heat tool for several seconds.3. With tip hot, dip the tip of the brad in any colored embossing powder.4. melt with heat gun for a few seconds5. While the melted powder is still hot, dip the tip in the embossing powder again. Melt powder again.6. Let cool compleatly before removing from tweezers.Notes:It works on all types of embossing powder, for my examples I used glitter, smooth, and distress powders.when dipping the brad don't go too deep or it will adhear to the prongsthick applications or over heating will make the melted embossing powder drip. (which hurts like crazy if it gets on your fingers, LOL learned that one the hard way)

Here is my first DT submission, I was FRAMED. It is my dd Brittany when she was about 6 months old.

the letters, blue scallops, heart, flowers all have been glittered with turquoise stickles. The wings were cut out of DCWV glitter cs. I then cut a slat on either side of her arm with an exacto knife to position them. The frame is the reverse side of the red MM Love notes PP.

Waterfall Card Tutorial

I made this card for my hubby for Father's day from my girls

Step 1.

Cut your Cardstock/ PP in the following measurements: 5 ¼ x 8 (or small note size card) (1), 1 7/8 x 1 7/8 (4). 2 x 2 (4), 5½ x 4 (1), 9 x 2 (1), ¾ x 4 (1).

Next you will need to score your 9 x 2 strip of colored cardstock. Starting at end of strip, score 2, 2¾, 3 ½, and 4 ¼ from the end
Attach the horizontal strip (the one which measures ¾ x 4) to front of card with brads/eyelets.
Note: it is very important that you do not use any adhesive in the middle of this piece!
Next, attach 2x9 strip to the horizontal strip you just attached to the card front. To do this, slide the longest section of 2x9 between the horizontal strip and the card, making sure to center it in the middle of your card. Line up the very edge of the scored end of piece 2x9 with bottom of the horizontal strip and attach with adhesive.
Note: the adhesive placement is very important you do not want to attach the scored side and the longest section of piece A together!

Attach your first image to the bottom 2 x 2 space at the scored end of piece top lines up with score mark. Contine adding 2x2 images to top of each score mark

Note: Place glue on 2x9 strip, NOT 2x2 piece, if all 2x2 piece glued down it will not flip closed.

Add eyelet and pull string (I used piece of leather left over from bind it all closuer) to end of card making sure it is all the way past the 3/4 strip when closed, otherwise it will snag.

This Lo is sooo unlike me, but was a lot of fun to do!! Normally I try to stick to everything being realistic, such as my trees are green, sky is blue... LOL this one however I let my imagination take flight and just had fun with it.

I am soooo excited!! I applied for the pages in time DT while thinking I didn't have a snowballs chance with all of the talented ladies who were applying, so imagine my shock last night when I saw my name on that list!! Naughty Elf

This is my dd Ashlynn when she was a little over a year old trying to sneak into Christmas presents about a week early at Grandma and Papa's house. Luckily my mom was quick with the camera and caught the stinker in the act. I used a coloring page image to make the paper pieced elf. The snowflakes around the red were done with tinsel embossing powder with leaves them glittery, even though it is hard to see in the pic.

A LO and a Lesson

This Lo is pretty close to my heart. My hubby is an OTR truck driver and is rarely home. I used a song by shedaisy since it pretty much spells out how I feel. The lo was done for a couple of challenges, one being a round robin on sb.com. The other a lyric challenge on pages in time. For the round robin I scraplifted from two talented ladies Just4myboys and

AvasScrapbookingMommy and had the hardest time of it!! Both LOs were extremely simple and it was throwing me off since that is totally not my style. I tried copying their style and ended up taking the page completely apart after it was done. I was forgetting one simple thing, you use a sketch/ scraplift as bare bones but what it ends up is totally up to you. ANY sketch/ LO can be adapted to fit your style don't get stuck because it's not "you" it's up to us as scrappers to turn it into our style, that one of the things that makes scrapping so fun!

This is the original beautiful LO by Just4myboys which has been accepted to be featured on the basic Grey website! Thanks for letting me use it Meg, and congrats on being featured!!!

Mother's day card

I have compleatly fallen in love with doing the dahlia fold flowers! They take a bit of time, but are sooooo worth it!! For this card I used my cuttlebug lines embossing folder to create the background, then sanded and inked it with vintage photo distress ink. The stem is rolled ribbon, and the leaves are by prima.

Altered binder

Here is an altered binder I did for a swap. The pp is by the paper studio from Hobby lobby, as is the border punch. I cut the black butterfly with my silhouette and used glimmer mist, and my cuttle bug to give it shimmer and deminsion. Fot the inside of the butterfly I used glitter cs, and a black zig pen. I used cottan candy stickles to finish it off.

This is my first 3D paper bag album. I used K and Co Hopscotch girl pp and embelies. Lots of distressing, and doodling. All of the ink is Tim Holtz Vintage Photo.

For some reason I always thought that you could only use flat embelies on pb albums, boy was I wrong!! I looked up pb albums on sb.com, and a few other places and was so inspired that I had to do this album, after just completing a flat one for the same swap.

We took the girls to six flags this weekend, and they had sooo much fun!! This was Britt's first real roller coaster ride, so needless to say she was a bit scared at first, LOL it didn't take long for her to be the one saying come on lets get on this one! Since my back is still messed up from a car wreck last Oct I didn't get to ride many of the rides, but I did get a ton of pics which of course will be showing up in LOs soon :)
